Walukuba Group (A)


The leader of this sub-group is Miriam Atwijukire (left). She currently owns a kiosk and is requesting a loan to add more inventory and expand her business. She is 32 years old and is the only income provider in her household of six. She hopes to use the profits from her business to continue to send her four children to school. She has borrowed once before through the Walukuba Maama's Development Association and repaid on time.

Miriam is joined by Lilian Toli, Janet Aber, Rashida Ayora, and Vicky Acan. Lilian has a business in second hand clothes but wants a loan to expand her poultry farm. Janet is in the business of brewing local gin called 'waragi' and wants to expand her business. Vicky owns a local pub and wants a loan to add to her stock and to brew local beer called 'malwa' (pronounced ma' roo' a). Rashida's business is selling handcrafts and wants to use her loan to buy more supplies.
